IDENTIFY MACROCLINIUM LINEARE
Macroclinium lineare is native to Costa Rica and Panama. In Panama, these plants are found in the provinces of Coclé, Darién and Panamá. In Costa Rica, the plants were found in an area of 10.1 ° N, 84.0 ° W, at an altitude of 1150-1175 m. One encountered plants growing at about 2 m above the ground in moss on a branch of a small melastoma tree, the diameter of which was 10 cm.
It is a super-miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte, which reaching 1-3 cm in height, with 5 equitant, spreading, semi-elliptic to linear-oblong, congested, fleshy, acute, imbricating, 1-3 cm long and 0.25-0.45 cm wide leaves and leaf sheaths.
The Linear Leaf Macroclinium blooms in the summer on an axillary, 1.6" (4 cm) long, slender, flexuous, several flowered inflorescence. The flowers are large for the size of the plant, and the petals of both whorls are green at the base. Above the base the dorsal petal is greenish-white, the side petals of the outer whorl are translucent with a slight lavender shade, and the inner whorl petals are lavender or purple with red or darker spots. The lip and the spine are lavender.
MACROCLINIUM LINEARE CARE AND CULTURE
Cultural information should only be used as a guide, and should be to be adapted to suit you. Your physical location; where you grow your plants, how much time you have to devote to their care, and many other factors, will need to be taken into account. Only then can you decide on the cultural methods that best suit you and your plants.
Light:
Macroclinium lineare needs a light level of 12000-23000 lux.
Temperature:
The average temperature of the summer day is 23-24 ° C, night 14-15 ° C, giving a daily difference of 8-10 ° C. The average temperature of the winter day is 22-23 ° C, night 13 ° C, giving a daily difference of 10 ° C.
Humidity:
In the summer and early autumn, The Linear Leaf Macroclinium needs the humidity of 80-85%, but it drops to almost 60% at the end of winter and at the beginning of spring.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Macroclinium lineare can be mounted on tree rootstocks or cork, with high humidity is ensured and watering is carried out at least once a day in summer.
Repotting can be performed when new roots grow.
Watering:
These plants should be abundantly watered during active growth, from late spring until the end of autumn. However, they must have perfect drainage, and the substrate around the roots should almost dry out between watering. When new growths reach maturity in autumn, the amount of water should be reduced.
Fertilizer:
It is recommended to apply weekly or every two weeks 1/4-1/2 doses of balanced fertilizer to orchids during active growth.
Rest period:
Macroclinium lineare in winter need less water, especially when they are growing in the conditions of a short day, at moderate latitudes, but they can never dry up completely. If you reduce the amount of water, you should also reduce the amount of fertilizers.
