DENDROBIUM BULLENIANUM CARE AND CULTURE
Cultural information should only be used as a guide, and should be to be adapted to suit you. Your physical location; where you grow your plants, how much time you have to devote to their care, and many other factors, will need to be taken into account. Only then can you decide on the cultural methods that best suit you and your plants.
Light:
Dendrobium bullenianum needs a light level of 25000-35000 lux. It likes some direct sun in the morning and you can treat it the same year round.
Temperature:
It is a thermophilic plant. The average temperature of the summer day is 32-33 ° C, night 24 ° C, giving a daily difference of 8-9 ° C. The average temperature of the winter day is 28-30 ° C, night 22-23 ° C, giving a daily difference of 6-7 ° C.
Humidity:
Bullen's Dendrobium needs a humidity level of 80-85% throughout the year.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Dendrobium bullenianum can be grown on tree rootstocks or cork as long as we can provide high humidity and watering in summer at least once a day. If pots are grown, any loose, airy, fast-drying substrate can be used. Repotting can be done at any time as soon as new roots grow.
Watering:
Precipitation is moderate to heavy, but in spring and summer the weather is more dry. Cultivated plants should be kept evenly moist with only little drying between watering.
Fertilizer:
It is recommended to use 1/4-1/2 dose of orchid fertilizer. Balanced fertilizer should be applied weekly or every 2 weeks for a round year.
Rest period:
Dendrobium bullenianum can tolerate night-time winter temperatures even up to 12 ° C. In winter, you should not increase the amount of water for the plants, especially those grown in the conditions of a short, dark day. Fertilization can be reduced when the plants do not show active growth.
