IDENTIFY DENDROBIUM ARCUATUM
Dendrobium arcuatum is native to Java. They grow in forests on the hills facing the southern coasts of eastern Java. They range from sea level to a height of 800 m.
It is a large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte, which reaching 18 cm in height, with horizontal, 8 cm long stems with numerous leafy internodes carrying many, ovate-lanceolate, 10 cm long leaves that twist to all face one direction.

The white or yellowish flowers are 5 cm long, including a greenish spur which is at least twice as long as the dorsal leaf. DENDROBIUM ARCUATUM CARE AND CULTURE
Cultural information should only be used as a guide, and should be to be adapted to suit you. Your physical location; where you grow your plants, how much time you have to devote to their care, and many other factors, will need to be taken into account. Only then can you decide on the cultural methods that best suit you and your plants.
Light:
Dendrobium arcuatum needs a light level of 30000-40000 lux. This plants should receive as much light as possible, although in the summer small shading is needed to prevent burning the leaves.
Temperature:
It is a thermophilic plant. The average temperature of the day throughout the year is 27-29 ° C, night 19-21 ° C, giving a daily difference of 7-10 ° C.
Humidity:
The Plow Shaped Dendrobium needs the humidity of almost 80% in summer and at the beginning of autumn, and in winter it drops to 70%.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Dendrobium arcuatum is best mounted on tree root stock because of horizontal growth, but in summer the plants must be watered at least once a day and the humidity high. Repotting is best done between blossoms when new roots begin to grow.
Watering:
Dendrobium arcuatum from spring to autumn should be constantly moist, but in the autumn should gradually reduce the amount of water, and then in the spring, when new increments appear, the amount of water increases again.
Fertilizer:
It is recommended to fertilize every week or every two weeks 1/4-1/2 doses of fertilizer for orchids. Balanced fertilizer should be used all year round.
Rest period:
Dry winter rest is important for the health of Dendrobium arcuatum, and the amount of water during the 3 winter months should be significantly reduced. Plants should dry out between waterings, but they should not stay dry for a long time. Fertilization should be significantly reduced or eliminated until the spring begins active growth.
