IDENTIFY DENDROBIUM FAMERI - FARMER'S DENDROBIUM ORCHID
The Farmer's Dendrobium (Dendrobium farmeri) is a species of orchid native to Asia. It is native to the Himalayas (Nepal, Bhutan, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, India, Bangladesh) and Indochina (Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Peninsular Malaysia, and Vietnam).
Dendrobium Farmeri also known as other names such as Farmer's Dendrobium, Callista farmeri (Paxton) Kuntze (1891), Dendrobium densiflorum var. farmeri (Paxton) Regel, Dendrobium farmeri var. aureoflavum Hook.f, Dendrobium farmeri var. albiflorum C.Morren.
The stem usually has a length of about 20 to 40 cm, a greenish yellow with a few short internodes, the middle of the stem is about 2-3 cm in diameter. New stems often stretch, the old stem is often shrink and smaller, with 4 slightly concave edges, 4 clearly square corners. Each stem has about 3-4 leaves at the top and has a medium thickness, leaf length about 8-12 cm, 4-6 cm wide. Because the plant belong with Dendrobium genus, so the leaves are less shed during the dry season and growing all year-round.
Flowers are in the form of bunches, 20-30 cm long, each cluster consists of individual flowers growing around the stem, each flower is about 4-5.5 cm long and blooms in the spring around February - March. The flowers are usually white in the wings, the throat has many yellow fluffy with white edges, there is also some species with light pink color but less common.

We also treat the new Dendrobium farmeri orchid similar to other types of Dendrobium, pruning roots, rinsing and soaking the plant in B1 / Atonik / N3M for 2-3 hours to stimulate the growth of root then grafting. This should be planted directly in a pot, or planted in terracotta pots with charcoal in the bottom of the pot. Place the plant neatly and then using nylon rope / plastic whistle to find a way to tie the rhizome stump with the cultivate, the stem with the strap so firmly.
Dendrobium farmeri orchid preferred wet but we need to pay attention to be clear, drainage quickly after irrigation. If you use small cultivate, the plant will soon die because of waterlogging. After grafted, we hang the plant in airy, shady place, watering regularly 1-3 times daily depending on the moisture or dry of the cultivate, and about 5-7 days to use B1 or Atonik spray once (see instruction on the label).
This species prefers light so when plants have healthy roots, hang under a thin black net is good. In the spring - summer plants are growing stems and leaves, use fertilizer 30-10-10 weekly. In autumn-winter, when the cold start, less watering, the plant need a little dry before flower season, but do not stop completely because it will cause leaves defoliation, and should apply 10-30-10 once a week to stimulate flowers.
