DENDROBIUM AMBOINENSE CARE AND CULTURE
Cultural information should only be used as a guide, and should be to be adapted to suit you. Your physical location; where you grow your plants, how much time you have to devote to their care, and many other factors, will need to be taken into account. Only then can you decide on the cultural methods that best suit you and your plants.
Light:
Dendrobium amboinense needs a light level of 25000-35000 lux.
Temperature:
It is a thermophilic plant. The average temperature of the summer day is 31 ° C, night 24 ° C, giving a daily difference of 7 ° C. The average temperature of the winter day is 27-28 ° C, night 23 ° C, giving a daily difference of 4-5 ° C.
Humidity:
The Amboin Island Dendrobium needs a humidity level of 80-85% throughout the year.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Dendrobium amboinense can be grown in pots in any loose, moisture-retaining substrate. If the plants are mounted on washers, high humidity is required, and daily watering is a must during hot, dry weather. Repotting can be done at any time as soon as new roots grow.
Watering:
This species should be evenly moist throughout the year and only little dry between watering.
Fertilizer:
Weekly or every 2-week 1/4-1/2 dose is recommended. Balanced fertilizer should be used for a round year.
Rest period:
In winter it is only slightly cooler. A short semi-dry period at the end of spring may be beneficial for Dendrobium amboinense. Less water is needed for plants grown in the conditions of a short, dark day at moderate latitudes. Plants, however, should never dry up completely.
