Phalaenopsis inscriptiosinensis orchid, also called as The Chinese Character Phalaenopsis, Phalaenopsis sinensis, is a species of the genus Phalaenopsis. This species was described by Fowlie in 1983.
IDENTIFY PHALAENOPSIS INSCRIPTIOSINENSIS ORCHID
The Chinese Character Phalaenopsis is native to Central Sumatra, above and east of Pakanbar. It can be found on forests trees at elevations below 914 meters.
It is a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with an abbreviated stem carrying 3 to 5, elliptic-oblong, undulate leaves. The leaves are 8-15 cm long.
Phalaenopsis inscriptiosinensis blooms in the summer on a racemose, decurved, 3 to 4 1/2" (7.5 to 11 cm) long, 2 to 5 flowered inflorescence with persistent triangular bracts and carrying sequentially opening flowers carrying 2 to 3 open at a time. The star-shaped flowers open successively, they are 3.0-3.6 cm in diameter. The flakes of both whorls are pale yellow and have transverse streaks or spots of cinnamon color.
