GROW AND CARE PHALAENOPSIS LUDDEMANNIANA ORCHID
Cultural information should only be used as a guide, and should be to be adapted to suit you. Your physical location; where you grow your plants, how much time you have to devote to their care, and many other factors, will need to be taken into account. Only then can you decide on the cultural methods that best suit you and your plants.
Light:
Lueddemann's Phalaenopsis needs a light level of 10,000-12,000 lux and needs to keep in partial shade.
Temperature:
It is a thermophilic plant. In summer the average day temperature is 31-34 ° C, the night 23-24 ° C, which gives a daily difference of 7-10 ° C. In winter the average day temperature is 30-33 ° C, night 21-22 ° C, with a daily amplitude of 9-11 ° C. Plants are quite tolerant of heat, if high humidity and strong air movement are ensured.
Humidity:
Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana needs the humidity level of 80% and should be reduced to 70-80% in winter.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
This plant can grow in pot with 12-16 mm pieces of fir or pine bark as substrate. Repotting is best done just after flowering, when the growth of new roots begins.
Watering:
In the period of plant growth, water about once a week, keep plant fairly moist but not wet, a sufficient level of humidity should be ensured. The precipitation scheme is wet / dry.
Fertilizer:
In the period of active growth, it is recommended to apply once a week or once every two weeks 1/4-1/2 of the recommended dose of fertilizer for orchids.
Rest period:
The amount of light for 2 winter months usually increases quickly. Humidity should be reduced to 70-80%. Watering for 3-4 months should be limited to poor watering with 2-3 week intervals or occasional fogging, but the plant should not be allowed to dry completely. When the plant is not growing, fertilization should be discontinued.
