Tillandsia funckiana is found in Colombia, Venezuela. It grow at elevations of 1500 meters above sea level. It is a species that can grow on rocks or other plants, but always in very bright conditions.
It is a small sized epiphytic or saxicolous species with numerous and thin leaves arranged all around the stem. The sheaths, triangular, are wider than the blades which are filiform. The tips of the leaves turn easily to red. This clearly caulescent species forms discards that often grow before the flowering of the mother plant.
This air plant bloom from the single flowered inflorescence (very rarely 2). The bracts of the flowering stem and the floral bracts are not very visible. The flowers are sessile, non-tubular, about 4 to 5 cm long. The non-fragrant flowers are bright red or orange. The stamens and the pistil are exserts. In the wild, the flowers are pollinated by hummingbirds.

Light:

My Funckianas are putting out numerous roots--was thinking of making a coco fiber tube to re-attach them-based on your advice think I would be better off attaching to some driftwood(desalted) or cedar--thank you for the info you posted--prob saved my plants----
