 Pleurothallis nossax also called as The Young-Bird Pleurothallis, Acronia nossax, Zosterophyllanthos nossax, is a species of the genus Pleurothallis. This species was described by Carlyle August Luer & Rodrigo Escobar in 1981.

IDENTIFY PLEUROTHALLIS NOSSAX ORCHID PLANT

 Pleurothallis nossax is found only in Cauca state of Colombia. It grows at elevations around 2050 to 2300 meters.
 It is a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect to suberect, slender, terete ramicauls enveloped basally by 1 to 2 close, tubular sheaths and another below the middle and carrying a single, apical, spreading, coriaceous, narrowly ovate, acute, basally sessile and cordate leaf.
 The Young-Bird Pleurothallis blooms in the winter on a successive single flowered inflorescence arising through a fugacious spathe and holds the flower close against the leaf base. The flowers are 2.5 cm in diameter.

PLEUROTHALLIS NOSSAX ORCHID PLANT CARE AND CULTURE

 Acronia nossax is not an orchid for the room culture, it should be in the cooler area of the temperate greenhouse or in the cool area. This species grows best in a pot with a well-drained substrate on a shady space with constantly high humidity and good air circulation. The proportion of water-containing material such as sphagnum in the planting material depends on their natural habits.
 The substrate should never completely dry out, as well as possible in no case dull. The plant does not tolerate direct solar radiation, as well like dryness. The daytime temperatures should not exceed 25 ° C, night temperatures up to 10 ° C are absolutely trouble free.
 This species does not needs a rest and can be cultivated evenly throughout the year. Weekly fertilization with about 10% of the green plants specified concentration is recommended. The plants will bloom depending on strength throughout the year.
