DENDROBIUM LOWII CARE AND CULTURE
Cultural information should only be used as a guide, and should be to be adapted to suit you. Your physical location; where you grow your plants, how much time you have to devote to their care, and many other factors, will need to be taken into account. Only then can you decide on the cultural methods that best suit you and your plants.
Light:
Dendrobium lowii needs a light level of 25000-35000 lux. Clear, diffused light is recommended.
Temperature:
Throughout the year, they needs the average day temperature is 25-27 ° C, the night 13-15 ° C, and the daily difference is 10-13 ° C.
Humidity:
Low's Dendrobium needs the average air humidity throughout the entire year probably of 80-85%.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Dendrobium lowii can be grown in pots filled with any loose substrate, which retains moisture, but not a waterlog. You can use small to medium-sized bark mixed with perlite or other moisture-retaining ingredients. Sometimes a cut sphagnum is also added, especially when growing in a dry place with low humidity. Repotting is best done in early spring, when new roots begin to grow.
Watering:
The plants should be constantly moist with only little drying between waterings throughout the year with a short, slightly drier period in winter.
Fertilizer:
It is recommended to use a 1/2-1/4 dose of orchid fertilizer weekly. From spring to mid summer, fertilizer with an increased nitrogen content is preferred, and fertilizer with an increased content of phosphorus should be used at the end of summer and autumn.
Rest period:
In winter, the amount of water should be slightly reduced, especially if grown under short, dark days at moderate latitudes. However, they can not dry up completely. Always reduce fertilization when reducing the amount of water.
