Dendrobium linearifolium also called as The Linear Leafed Dendrobium, Ceraia linearifolia, Dendrobium gracile, is a species of the genus Dendrobium. This species was described by Johannes Elias Teijsmann & Simon Binnendijk in 1862.
IDENTIFY DENDROBIUM LINEARIFOLIUM
Dendrobium linearifolium is native to Sumatra, Java and Bali. These orchids are popular in central and eastern Java, where they grow at heights of 700-1800 m. They are often found on roadside trees, and can grow even on dead trees in full sun.
It is a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte, which reaching 70 cm in height, with a basally swollen, 70 cm long stem carrying many linear, obtuse and faintly bilobed, 6 cm long leaves.
The Linear Leafed Dendrobium blooms on a short, 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence arising all along the stem and carrying short-lived flowers. The flowers are 1.8 cm in diameter. The outer whorls are white with a green tinge at the base and with red veins. The inner whorls are uniformly white. The lip, with the indentation in the middle, has a broad yellow band in the middle and red lines at the bottom. Its edges are wavy with a notch in the middle.
