Dendrobium lampongense is native to Malaysia, Sabah and Sumatra. In Sumatra, these plants grow at the eastern end of Lampong Province. In Malaysia, they grow in the Negeri Sembilan lowland and probably in the Kedah lowland.
Dendrobium lampongense also called as The Lampong Dendrobium (A region in southern Sumatra), Eurycaulis lampongensis, is a species of the genus Dendrobium. This species was described by Johannes Jacobus Smith in 1908.
IDENTIFY DENDROBIUM LAMPONGENSE

It is a large sized, hot growing epiphyte, which reaching 65 cm in height, with stem-like, erect to spreading, sometimes pendent, somewhat flexuous, dark green to reddish brown, 65 cm long pseudobulbs consisting of many nodes and carrying lanceolate, slightly unequal, acute, gently undulate, dark green above, dark violet to purple suffused beneath, deciduous, 11 cm long leaves.
The Lampong Dendrobium blooms on a short, few flowered inflorescence that arises from a leafless cane. The flowers are 4.2-4.8 cm in diameter. The flakes of both whorls are light yellow with a bright purple color on the back side. The base of the bright yellow lip has 4-8 brownish lines. A wavy or creased middle section of the lip may be rounded or may have an indentation. Side plots are usually small, triangular, but also may not be.
