Maxillaria brachybulbon, also called as Short-Bulbed Maxillaria, is a species of the genus Maxillaria. This species was described by Friedrich Richard Rudolf Schlechter in 1923.
DESCRIPTION OF MAXILLARIA BRACHYBULBON - SHORT-BULBED MAXILLARIA
Maxillaria brachybulbon is native to Central and Southern Tropical America. It is found growing in rainforests in Atlantic rain forest in Bolivia, Brazil North, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panamá, Venezuela at elevations of 50-1000 meters above sea level.
It is a mini-miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte which reaching up to 6 cm in height a very short rhizome. The pseudobulbs are minute, compressed, unifoliate, enveloped basally by 2 leaf-bearing sheaths. The single leaf is apical, erect, oblong-lanceolate, obtuse, shortly petiolate base, up to 6 cm long.
Short-Bulbed Maxillaria can flowers all year-round from the axillary, 2.5 cm long, single flowered inflorescence that arising on an immature growth and enveloped completely by 4, tubular, chartaceous, imbricating sheaths.
