Tillandsia butzii, also called as Platystachys inanis, Tillandsia inanis, Tillandsia variegata, is a species of the genus Tillandsia. This species was described by Carl Christian Mez in 1935.

Tillandsia butzii is native to Central America, and especially the area from southern Mexico to Panama. It is found at an altitude ranging from 1250 to over 2200 meters.
It is a small sized epiphyte, which reaching 20 to 25 cm in size, with the relatively few, soft, cylindrical, canaliculate and wavy at the level of the blade which is filiform leaves that form a rosette. The leaves may curl further if the plant lacks water.
This air plant blooms from the quite long (20 cm), digitized inflorescence with several small ears. The bracts of the flowering stem are similar to leaves and nested. The floral bracts are scaly, imbricate, green with red shades at the apex. The flowers are almost sessile, tubular, 3 cm long, pink or purple.
