Wisteria sinensis description:

 It is the plant par excellence to adorn the pergolas with its very graphic foliage, its exceptional flowering and its fruiting in pods at the end of the season. It is also particularly useful for dressing a wall or covering an unsightly screen.

 Chinese wisteria is very vigorous, it wraps around a fence or a vine (always in the opposite direction clockwise) and tends to choke the plants around. It prefer a solitary situation, in full sun and is very durable, it can live more than 50 years. Be patient however: its first flowering does not appear until after 2 to 3 years.

Grow and care Wisteria sinensis:

 Wisteria sinensis is an easy plant to cultivation. It grows in any garden soil with a preference for poor soils. However, it prefers an acidic soil to neutral and risks to wither in limestone soil. You can plant it along a wall or stake it on a pergola.

 To improve the hardiness of this plant, which is already not so bad, plant it in a sufficiently draining soil, trellised on a wall well south, it will withstand harsh winters more easily. The wisteria can be formed into a tree by raising them on a parasol stake of 1.5 to 2 m, or ground cover. The best time for plantation is March to May and September to October.

 Pruning is recommended for better flowering. In March-April, after the last true frosts, when the buds have appeared, cut the growth after two or three buds and eliminate weak branches. The training new branches and pruning is done in August.
