Acampe pachyglossa is found from Zaire, Angola, Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, South Africa, Madagascar, Comoros and the Seychelles. It grows on trunks and main branches of trees or on rocks below them in deciduous woods usually in arid, hot, low-lying areas or in riverine forests or in coastal bush country to elevations of sea level to 1000 meters...

 Acampe pachyglossa also called as The Broad-Lipped Acampe, Acampe madagascariensis, Acampe mombasensis, Acampe nyassana, Acampe pachyglossa subsp. renschiana, Acampe renschiana, Saccolabium mombasense, Saccolabium pachyglossum, is a species of the genus Acampe. This species was described by Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach in 1881.

 It is a medium sized, erect, monopodial epiphyte or occasional lithophyte with up to 50 cm long woody stem and distichous, strap-shaped, unequally and obtusely bilobed apically, folded, stiff, fleshy, dark green, 15–25 × 1.5–3.5 cm leaves.

 The Broad-Lipped Acampe blooms at most any time of the year with an axillary, erect, to 20 cm long, but mostly shorter, occasionally branched, densly several flowered inflorescence with miniature clusters of barred flowers occuring at various times of the year, but mostly in the summer and fall and having a sweet diurnal fragrance. The flowers are about 1cm in diameter; sepals and petals are greenish cream, greenish yellow or pale lemon-yellow with transverse crimson or reddish brown stripes and spots; lip is white or pale pink, sparsely and similarly marked; column is greenish cream, similarly marked.

 Acampe pachyglossa is not difficult to grow. It is best to mounted the plant without substrate, the roots can develop freely on cork or larger, possibly cracked. Stand in the bright and warmest part of the tempered house.

 The necessary longer dry season corresponds to the long winter at some attitudes. From spring to the later summer, water frequently - regular spraying.
