DENDROBIUM NATHANIELIS CARE AND CULTURE
Cultural information should only be used as a guide, and should be to be adapted to suit you. Your physical location; where you grow your plants, how much time you have to devote to their care, and many other factors, will need to be taken into account. Only then can you decide on the cultural methods that best suit you and your plants.
Light:
Dendrobium nathanielis needs a light level of 20000-30000 lux. Shading is necessary from spring to autumn, but the level of light should be as high as possible, so as not to burn the leaves.
Temperature:
The average temperature of the summer day is 32-33 ° C, night 24 ° C, and the daily difference is 8-9 ° C. In spring, the average temperature of the day is 34-37 ° C, the night 21-24 ° C, and the daily difference is 11-15 ° C. The average temperature of the winter day is 30-33 ° C, the night 14-17 ° C, and the daily difference is 15-17 ° C.
Humidity:
In the summer, Nathaniel's Dendrobium needs the humidity of 80%, but in the winter and at the beginning of spring it drops to 60-65%.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Dendrobium nathanielis can be mounted on pieces of tree fern or cork, as long as we can ensure high humidity and watering at least once a day during the summer. When growing in pots, you can use any loose, quickly drying substrate. Repotting can be carried out whenever new roots grow.
Watering:
These plants should be constantly moist during active growth from late spring until the beginning of autumn, but in autumn the amount of water should be gradually reduced.
Fertilizer:
It is recommended to apply a 1/4-1/2 dose of orchid fertilizer weekly. From spring to mid-summer, high-nitrogen fertilizer should be used, and then until the end of autumn high-phosphoric fertilizer.
Rest period:
In winter, Dendrobium nathanielis should dry completely between waterings, but they can not stay dry for too long. Occasional morning fogging between waterings, especially on sunny days, will protect the plant against excessive drying. Fertilization should be eliminated until spring, when the amount of water increases.
