DENDROBIUM MIYAKEI CARE AND CULTURE
Cultural information should only be used as a guide, and should be to be adapted to suit you. Your physical location; where you grow your plants, how much time you have to devote to their care, and many other factors, will need to be taken into account. Only then can you decide on the cultural methods that best suit you and your plants.
Light:
Dendrobium miyakei needs a light level of 18000-30000 lux.
Temperature:
It is a thermophilic plant. The average summer temperature during the day is 29 ° C, at night 23-24 ° C, with a daily difference of 6 ° C. The average winter temperature is 23-26 ° C and the average night temperature is 18-20 ° C, with a daily amplitude of 5-6 ° C.
Humidity:
Miyasaki's Dendrobium needs the average humidity of 80-85% throughout the year.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Dendrobium miyakei is best mounted on a tree frond or on a piece of cork corresponds to their often slacking habit. Such cultivation requires, however, maintaining high humidity, and in the summer of daily watering. If the plants can not be mounted, you can use small pots or hanging baskets filled with loose, fast drying substrate. Repotting can be done at any time as soon as new roots grow.
Watering:
This species should be watered regularly, with a 1-2-month slightly drier period in the spring. It may be beneficial to use warm water.
Fertilizer:
These plants should be fertilized every week 1/4-1/2 of the recommended dose of fertilizer for orchids. A fertilizer with a high nitrogen content is beneficial from spring to mid-summer, and a fertilizer richer in phosphorus should be used in late summer and autumn.
