Tolumnia calochila is native to Haiti Island. These plants grow epiphytically on medium and large trees in semi-arid areas near the ocean. They often share the habitat with Laeliopsis domingensis.

 Tolumnia calochila also called as The Beautiful Lip Tolumnia, Oncidium calochilum, is a species of the genus Tolumnia. This species was described by Guido Jozef Braem in 1986.

 Tolumnia calochila is native to Haiti Island. These plants grow epiphytically on medium and large trees in semi-arid areas near the ocean. They often share the habitat with Laeliopsis domingensis.

 It is a miniature to small sized, fan-shaped, hot to warm growing epiphyte with small pseudobulbs and 3 to 5 terete leaves with very short, erect stems enveloped by l to 3 , imbricate, distichous, fleshy to coriaceous, bilaterally flattened, channeled on the upper side, linear-aciculate, acuminate, 10 cm long leaves.

 The Beautiful Lip Tolumnia blooms in the spring on a basal, spreading, 4" (10cm) long, laxly 1 to 6 flowered, racemose, wiry inflorescence that has lanceolate, acuminate bracts and carrying fragrant flowers. The 3-4 cm long flowers are pure yellow, with deeply fringed edges of the middle lip plot. A few cone-shaped, sharp tips emerge on the protuberance of the lip.
