Sigmatostalix cuculligera is native to Colombia. These plants were found in the Antioquia department, in a climate zone from warm to cool, at an altitude of 1000-2500 m.

 Sigmatostalix cuculligera also called as The Cowl Carrying Sigmatostalix, Oncidium cuculligerum, Roezliella cuculligera, is a species of the genus Sigmatostalix. This species was described by Garay in 1972.

 Sigmatostalix cuculligera is native to Colombia. These plants were found in the Antioquia department, in a climate zone from warm to cool, at an altitude of 1000-2500 m.

Sigmatostalix cuculligera care and culture

 It is a miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte, which reaching 4.5-6.5 cm in height, with oblong or egg-shaped, compressed, 1.7-2.2 cm long and 0.7-1.2 cm wide pseudobulbs are partially enveloped basally by distichous, imbricating, longitudinally folded leaf-bearing sheaths and carries a single, erect, strap-shaped, acute, 2.5-4.5 cm long and 0.4-0.7 cm wide leaf.

 The Cowl Carrying Sigmatostalix blooms in the spring and summer on an axillary, erect, 1.6" (4 cm) long, several flowered, paniculate inflorescence arising from the leaf axil of a newly matured pseudobulb with each short branch carrying a few successive flowers. The flowers are greenish with a chestnut area on the lower parts of the petals of both whorls. The ruffle has a greenish middle plot with a chestnut spot at its base, yellow side plots and a large, straight, fleshy thickening at the base. The spine is chestnut and has a white pollen cover. The spread, oval-lanceolate petals of both whorls are slightly bent at sharp tips with the inner whorl flakes slightly smaller than the outer whorl flakes. The dorsal petal is straightened, and both the lateral outer petals and the inner whorl petals are diagonally decomposed.
