DENDROBIUM CHRYSOCREPIS CARE AND CULTURE
Cultural information should only be used as a guide, and should be to be adapted to suit you. Your physical location; where you grow your plants, how much time you have to devote to their care, and many other factors, will need to be taken into account. Only then can you decide on the cultural methods that best suit you and your plants.
Light:
Dendrobium chrysocrepis needs a light level of 20000-30000 lux.
Temperature:
The average temperature of the summer day is 20-22 ° C, night 16 ° C, giving a daily difference of 5-6 ° C. In spring, the average day temperature is 24-27 ° C, the night 15-17 ° C, and the daily difference is 7-12 ° C. In winter, the average temperature of the day is 23-25 ° C, night 11-12 ° C, and the daily difference is 13 ° C.
Humidity:
The Golden Slipper Dendrobium needs an average humidity of 80-90% from late spring to mid autumn, then in winter it drops to 65-70%.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Dendrobium chrysocrepis can be mounted on tree fern washers or cork with a sphagnum cushion. Installed plants should be provided with high humidity and summer watering at least once a day. When growing in pots, any loose, quickly drying ground is recommended. Repotting can be done at the beginning of spring, when new roots grow.
Watering:
From late spring until autumn, water is very abundant, while the 4-month winter is dry season. This plants should be constantly evenly moist during active growth, but when new growths reach maturity in autumn, the amount of water should be gradually reduced.
Fertilizer:
It is recommended to apply a 1/4-1/2 dose of orchid fertilizer weekly. From spring to mid-summer, high-nitrogen fertilizer should be used, and then until the end of autumn high-phosphoric fertilizer.
Rest period:
In 4 months of winter, it is moderately cold and dry. Dendrobium chrysocrepis should dry between waterings, but they can never remain dry for too long. To protect against excessive dehydration, they will be protected by occasional morning fogging between waterings. Fertilization should be reduced or eliminated.
