 Oncidium hians orchid, also called as The Gaping Oncidium refers to the large teeth of the callus, is a species of the genus Oncidium. This species was first described by Lindley in 1838. Several synonyms are know for this species such as: Aurinocidium hians, Grandiphyllum hians, Oncidium leucostomum, Oncidium maxilligerum, Oncidium quadricorne.

 This plant blooms in the winter on a basal, slender, erect, simple to few branched, many flowered inflorescence (12-30 cm long) arising on a mature pseudobulb with well spaced flowers. The flowers are 1.0-1.5 cm in diameter. Typically the petals of both whorls are reddish-brown with yellow edges, but they can also be completely yellow-brown or yellow with red-brown longitudinal stripes. The lip is light yellow and may or may not have red-brown spots. The bulge is white.
