Aerides rosea orchid is a medium to large sized, hot to cool growing, monopodial epiphyte or lithophyte with clumping pendulous stems carrying several ligulate leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a racemose or rarely branched, 2' (60 cm) long, densly many (20 to 25) flowered inflorescence with fragrant, waxy flowers occuring in the spring and summer.

 Aerides rosea orchid, also called as the rose colored Aerides, is a species of Aerides genus. Several synonyms are know for this species such as: "Aerides affinis var. rosea (Lodd. ex Lindl. & Paxton) C.S.P.Parish (1883)", "Aerides trigona Klotzsch (1855) Aerides williamsii R. Warner (1865)", "Aerides fieldingii Lodd. ex E. Morren (1876)", "Aerides fieldingii var. williamsii (R. Warner) H.J. Veitch (1891)", "Aerides fieldingii var. alba L. Linden (1897)", "Aerides rosea f. alba (L. Linden) Christenson (1994)".

IDENTIFY AERIDES ROSEA ORCHID

 Aerides rosea orchid is native to China (Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan), Assam, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam on open rocks and bluffs in evergreen and semideciduous forests at elevations of 300 to 1700 meters.

 Some varieties of this species have dark green foliage, while others are of a lighter shade; the leaves, which are broad, are eight or ten inches long; the spikes sometimes attain a length of three feet, and are branched; the flowers are clear bright rose colour, unusually large, and are produced during May, June, and July, continuing in bloom three or four weeks. It is a slow-growing plant, bearing light rose-colored flowers, spotted with a darker shade of the same colour.

 Some varieties of Aerides Rosea: Aerides rosea superbum (much stronger in growth than Aerides rosea; the flowers also larger, and of a richer colour. The spikes of this, as well as those of the species, are apt to damp off at the ends before the flowers open - an evil which is often caused by too much moisture having been given. It continues a long time in perfection), Aerides rosea williamsii (with broad dark green drooping foliage.  Like others monopodial epiphytes, this species need well aerated cultivate. So the plant can be mounted in the bark or grow in a pot with large charcoal to keep the moist. When the new plant is grafted onto the substrate, it is advisable to avoid rain to prevent the plant from rotting tops.

Water:

 Once the plants have grown well, they should be watered daily as soon as they are dry. Depending on the climate of each garden to choose the appropriate irrigation. Sunny season should be watered more often, the rainy season only irrigation when the substrate has dried.

Fertilizer:

 When the plants have more roots, should provide more fertilizer to grow faster, stronger. So we need spray anti-fungus medicine such as Physic, Ridomil, Daconil ... and others red spider killers every month.

Treatment for flowering:

 The Aerides rosea usually flowers at the beginning of the rainy season, after a long period of drought. Therefore, in order to plant flowers, we should choose the large, strong enough plants, then spray 6-30-30 about 4 times, once a week, reduce the water slowly until stopped, hanging in cool place with little sunshine light to stimulate bud. Keep hang the plant till the plant have new buds, then water and spray roots stimulant, irrigation 20-20-20 fertilizer, divided into 3 times, each time a week to get the beautiful flowers.

 Aerides rosea in particular and Aerides in general like cool shade, don't hang the plant in full sun, that make burning leaves and dead plants.
